Catalytic Converter

When the old engine blew it damaged the catalytic converter.  The catalytic converter was a aftermarket Magna Flow unit.  I got a check engine light telling me the catalytic converter was bad.  So I looked at various units on the internet.  An BMW catalytic converter cost about $1000.  And the cheapest complete bolt on assembly I could find cost about $200.  So I decided to get on Amazon and see what was available.  I found this Magna Flow unit on sale for $50.  It had a high enough flow rate for my engine.

I didn't want to weld on my car.  So I made a wooden jig that braced the original piping.  Then  I cut up the pipes and fit in the new converter.  And tacked the joints.

Then I took the unit out and completed the welds. The welds were terrible but it doesn't leak.
